This collection of Kim Hargreaves' designs, edited by Kate Buller, offers a great opportunity for current fans of Kim to revisit some of her vintage designs from the Rowan archive. They come in a wonderfully varied range of yarns and styles, from chunky country jackets and sweaters to elegant, ethereal tops and cardigans. Kim is the undisputed master of simple classic knits, in whatever form. Her unrivalled sense of style helped to build Rowan's profile as a major yarn company from the late 1980's. During her time as senior designer at Rowan she not only created some truly great knits, but helped to choose the yarns and colour palette. The designs in this book, mainly from the seminal Rowan magazine, include both winter and summer knits, and a few designs for men too (as well as one which converts into a child's pattern). They include a great range of textured stitches and Kim's hallmark finishing details, from deep garter stitch welts and cuffs on a classic jacket to an exquisite ruffled edge in Kidsilk Haze for a very feminine cardigan, plus some beautifully simple, and easy to knit, classic tops.
